As the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak escalates around the world, Simcere is strengthening its efforts working with overseas partners in the fight against the virus. The recent donations made by Simcere include facial masks, protective suits, medical goggle and other medical supplies. Recipients of these donations are mainly hospitals and colleges in Britain and America, such as Addenbrooke’s hospital; Boston Children's Hospital; Brigham and Women's Hospital; UT MD Anderson Cancer Center; University of California, San Diego and University of California, San Francisco, etc.
Meanwhile nationwide, Simcere has been strengthening the production of Arbidol and Zanamivir, two antiviral medications to fight against the virus. This followed the recent publication of the list of Arbidol in the Diagnosis and Treatment Protocol for COVID-19 (Trial Version 6) by the National Health Commission of China. Since then, there has been an obvious surge in clinical demand.
To meet this demand, hundreds of employees at the Nanjing Simcere Dongyuan Pharmaceutical and Hainan Simcere Pharmaceutical skipped the Spring Festival holiday and worked overtime to produce Arbidol Dispersible Tablets and Zanamivir Powder for Inhalation.
So far, Simcere has donated at least RMB 6 million worth of medication and medical protective supplies to Wuhan City, Hubei Province and medical institutions all over China. In January of this year, we also donated RMB 1 million to the Wuhan Branch of the Red Cross Society.
